I read What Happened by Hillary Clinton on

Review

I listened to What Happened as an audiobook - dictated by Clinton herself. I don’t recommend this experience, unless you have an audiobook application that can increase play speed by 2x or more. 2x felt like too little: Clinton’s delivery is glacial.

I didn’t enjoy it. Perhaps some part of me thought it was ‘required reading’ for this day and age, or just the audiobook appearing at the top of the list in the Libby app made me want to knock it out. Regardless, it confirms the suspicion that Hillary at her most guarded was hard like, and when she opens up and speaks from the heart, it isn’t much better. It’s a relic of a time, of a 90s centrist neoliberalism that enjoyed one last gasp in her campaign but is now, I hope, gone.
